I’m trying to make a decision if I have a bad habit, an obsession or something that requires therapy. When you enjoy something when does it become an addiction?  I’m seeing an issue and I’m not sure if it is an innocent behavior or a serious problem. It has to do with bowls. I think I wrote about this before but it is really getting out of hand.  I’m not to the point that I ask for a bowl at someone’s home or when I’m at a restaurant.  I don’t carry one in my purse (because that is where I carry my condiments.) I just like toRead More →

I have a confession. So far, this year has not been one of my favorites….maybe you could tell because I haven’t been writing as much.  It started off on a couple of really hard notes that made the winter end with a snowstorm of emotion. The spring was consumed with dog training and my days were reigned with the challenges of raising a purebred German Shepherd puppy aka Scout aka Princess Underfoot aka Sweet Baby aka Pretty Girl.  (They should come with a warning label!)  She is adorable but German Shepherds apparently aren’t a breed…they are a lifestyle. As summer started, I had glimpses sun peekingRead More →

July means only one thing in Indiana….FAIR TIME!!  Counties all over the state are gathering their best tractors, animals and 4-H projects to showcase everything that living in the heartland encompasses and dreaming of blue ribbons. The hard work of all of these animal owners and their dedication of trying to be the best in their class is amazing. The pigs are polished. The cows are cuddled.  The bunnies are buffed.  The horses are hugged.  The children are clapping.  The pies are primed.  The canned goods are cooked.  The quilts are queued up on the wall.  And the snacks are on sticks! I like going toRead More →

Do you think about cucumbers? Do you always have one in your fridge?  Do you buy one every week?  Do you name them? (Wait….we aren’t talking about people who really LOVE cucumbers.) I adore cucumbers especially on hot days.  There is something about the crispness and the feel of their crunch that make me feel like I am having a treat.  I can sit and crunch on them at snacktime and feel like I am getting away with something. (I don’t do many things wrong so eating a plate of cucumbers make me feel dangerous!) They have become my go-to at lunchtime because I can pairRead More →

Did you ever have a VCR?  Do you remember when you would try to get to a certain point on a tape and hit the fast forward?  You could watch all the characters move super-fast and it was almost as fun as watching the movie. The challenge was always getting it to go exactly to your exact stop point.  You go back and forth….back and forth….back and forth.  And you usually don’t get to the point you want to be at so you just stop and watch time go from there. I feel that is the way life is right now.  I look at theRead More →

“We go together Like rama lama lama ka dinga da dinga dong Remembered forever As shoo-bop sha wadda wadda yippity boom de boom Chang chang changitty chang sha-bop That’s the way it should be Wah-oooh, yeah! We’re one of a kind Like dip da-dip da-dip doo-wop da doo-bee doo” Do you remember this song?  It is from the movie Grease which I love to watch every summer. I woke up humming this today as I sorted socks in the laundry.  (FYI….it is a great sock matching song!) As I was “Boogedy boogedy boogedy boogedy shoobee doowop shebop”ing my to the bottom of the basket, IRead More →

Happy July!!!  Any big summer plans?  Do you like to just hang out at home and avoid summer crowds?  Or maybe this is the only time of year you get off work so you take a big vacation? I like the mini-stay close to home vacation.  I feel like I’m getting away but I still pack like I’m going on a safari.  (Actually, I think I pack like the Howell’s from Gilligan’s Island.  I don’t have any boas or gowns but I do have my bag count usually outnumber my days away.) We went on a trip the other week out east to visit someRead More →

One Shrimp. Two Shrimp. Pink Shrimp. Poop Shrimp. I bought a bag of shrimp, all safe in a stash.  Pulling off the shells and placing them in the trash.  I looked at the pile all pretty and pink when all of a sudden I saw something that I think stinks. They call it a “vein” and line of black goop but I knew better…it is shrimp poop.  This is the Dr. Seuss story that was never told.  (And probably not really the most appetizing start to a food blog post.) I have a love/hate relationship with shrimp.  I really love to eat it.  It isRead More →

Do you ever get a case of the grumpies?  You grumble, mumble and lash out.  You can’t be cheered up no matter what anyone says or does.  You may even start to react violently and fling scrambled eggs across the room.  (What kind of lunatic does that…um…thanks for cleaning mine up, Honey.) I had a really bad case yesterday.  I woke up in a mood and was not going to get happy no matter what.  I was like a 92-pound lump of grump.  (Pretty much anything said to me resembled a bee in a jar….I was buzzing and ready to sting.) I felt bad forRead More →

Drum roll please….it is time for the Annual….DEVILED….EGGS…blog!!!!! (I guess I gave it away in the title.) Hooray!!!!!!!! I think this has become one of my favorite blogs on Felt Like a Foodie. I know that if I didn’t feel the pressure to write about deviled eggs every year…I probably wouldn’t force myself to experiment with the fillings. (Oh who am I fooling…I’m so wild…I would probably do this anyway!) I was perusing the Internet getting some inspiration and I noticed something I never had seen done to a deviled egg before. (Please note…do not look at a website called Deviled Egg Fetishes….if you wonderedRead More →
