Do you ever eat something and then become obsessed?  Maybe you go eat it multiple times.  Maybe you use the google to find out recipes or restaurants that you can find it at.  Maybe you dream about it and wake up with your pillow in your mouth.  (My husband wakes up that way sometimes…..but it is because I try to smother him in his sleep…wait…I shouldn’t admit to that…this isn’t admissible…is it?  It is a blog…there is no truth in blogs…remember that, Judge…I mean, readers.) I’ve had a couple of things that I’m obsessed with but know I can’t write about them EVERY week.  (IRead More →

It is always funny to me the things people email me about after reading Felt Like a Foodie. I am reminded of grammar mistakes, spelling errors and incomplete sentences. I will be told about hanging participles (do you see a dermatologist for those?), improper apostrophe use and metaphor maladies. I appreciate the editing help and feel like you all make me the bestest writer in the world. (I just wrote bestest to make some people I know cringe!) Folks also like to comment on my pictures. Do you ever get a song in your head and sing it whenever you are doing a mundane task? It could be a song theme, something from the radio or maybe commercial jingle. My song lately has been one that isn’t one I can explain…Super Freak by Rick James. Do you know the song or at least part of the song? (Part of the chorus:) She’s all right, she’s all right That girl’s all right with me yeah.Read More →

Sometimes when you write a blog, you have to talk about uncomfortable subjects. I dread having to write these types of posts but alas it is just a subject I can’t avoid much longer. I’m talking about the “V” word. Sigh. I’m not sure why I have such a hard time saying it. It is one of those things that has probably been part of every person’s life. I’ve often found the discussion of the “V” word to be awkward. I mean, who wants to talk about that??? No matter how much I hide from it, it is the pink elephant in the room. EveryoneRead More →

One of the best parts of my “cheese”cation was the obvious…. tasting the cheese. Each time we stopped at a creamery, there would be something to try. What made it even better (if 3 days of eating cheese wasn’t good enough) was the fact that I was surrounded by sooooo many experts. As mentioned in Friday’s post, the folks at the Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board and Fortune Fish & Gourmet invited me on this trip. (Fortune Fish takes pride in educating themselves in all the products it distributes in the Midwest…including their HUGE gourmet food division.)  The nice part was that we were all thereRead More →
