Every year the same discussions occur this time of year during the Super Bowl.  I hope it is a good game or that the commercials make sense.  Will the half time show make you stay in your seat or will you take that opportunity to run to the bathroom?  Is the game worth they hype or is it just something you watched because you thought you’d miss something? I think all of those talking points can also be about Super Bowl food.  You want it to be good and worth your time.  You hope your munchies are fantastic and you don’t want to skip aRead More →

It is award season (if you are a fan of TV and movies) and Super Bowl time (if you like sports) which means only one thing….time to make snack foods. I, personally, don’t entertain much but I still like to have a couple of awesome snacks up my sleeve in case we have to go somewhere.  (I sometimes have snacks up my sleeve when I go to the movies too but I’m not sure I should discuss that.) During our single digit days of winter, I had an obsession.  It wasn’t anything too perverse or weird at least by my standards.  It was something that made me excited about the new year and trying new things.  (I can see how your mind is wandering.) I was preoccupied with following Steve Dolinsky’s Facebook and Twitter Feed.  If you don’t know Steve Dolinksy, he does an amazing job of exploring the food universe on a segment called the Hungry Hound on ABC in Chicago.  But he is much more than a Chicago food explorer, he travels and does an amazing job of explaining new foodsRead More →

Dear Dad, I’m sorry you died yesterday.  I am glad it was peaceful and that you were home in your chair watching TV.  I hope you weren’t scared and that your mind was at rest. I wish I could have told you all of this earlier and I wish we would have had a different relationship.  You know the kind you see on TV with little girls dancing on their dad’s feet or a Dad walking his daughter down the aisle.  I do know you loved me but you kept me at a distance because you lived in fear of losing me.  Neither of usRead More →
