DISCLAIMER: NO HUMANS, DOGS, STUFFED MONKEYS OR CHILDREN WERE HARMED IN THE WRITING THIS BLOG. (With a disclaimer like that….you want to keep reading…right?) What do you do when you are tired? Do you curl up on the couch and watch TV? Maybe you check out of life with a book on a hammock in your backyard? Some folks have even been known to catch a few “z’s” just to recharge. Not me. When I’m tired, I think I should write a blogpost. Not a good blogpost…but a blogpost that makes sense as I’m typing but when I look back…I think to myself “Don’t writeRead More →

One of the best parts of spring is it seems to launch the food festival season. Whether you live in a huge city like Chicago or one of the smaller suburbs, odds are you will find a tasty outing within your reach. If you have never gone to one and are a little intimidated, it is time for you to get your feet (or is it fork) wet! The Taste of Michiana will be taking place Wednesday, April 26, 2017 at 5-8 PM (Eastern Time) at the Century Center in South Bend, Indiana. (And for my Chicago readers, this is a great way to peruseRead More →

Hooray the sun is shining, itty-bitty green leaf buds popping out on my trees limbs and the daffodils are in full bloom….aaaahhhhh…Spring is finally looking like…well…spring!!!! I love everything about the newness of the season…well…almost everything. I don’t like the warmer days!!! Whaaaat??? I’m probably in the minority on this topic but it is just weird that it was in the 40’s last week and just yesterday it hit the upper 70’s!! What happened to the 50’s, the 60’s and the 70’s??? (It kind of like aging…I don’t know what happened to my 30’s and now somehow I’m in my late 40’s!) A few moreRead More →

Another year conquered….PHEW! Something weird happened this year…I think I started aging. (At least physically, I am still mentally very immature and I don’t see that changing anytime soon.) I looked in the mirror this morning and took notice of the little things that remind me that I am not getting any younger. I know many would be horrified but oddly enough I feel so joyful about each and every one of them because they map out the stories of my life. The crinkles by eyes remind me of everything wonderful I have gotten to see over the years. Every crease shows the joy IRead More →

Drum roll please….it is time for the Annual….DEVILED….EGGS…blog!!!!! (I guess I gave it away in the title.) Hooray!!!!!!!! I think this has become one of my favorite blogs on Felt Like a Foodie. I know that if I didn’t feel the pressure to write about deviled eggs every year…I probably wouldn’t force myself to experiment with the fillings. (Oh who am I fooling…I’m so wild…I would probably do this anyway!) I was perusing the Internet getting some inspiration and I noticed something I never had seen done to a deviled egg before. (Please note…do not look at a website called Deviled Egg Fetishes….if you wonderedRead More →

I’ve received some requests for my annual “What to do with a deviled egg” post….I hope to post one this weekend.  I’ve had a bit of a bug this week and haven’t been eating real food….with that said…I may do a post on the tastiest broths in the grocery store.  Hang tight…I can’t makeup some fun new fillings!Read More →

When you get up in the morning, do you ever think to yourself….Have I made a difference in anyone’s life? It doesn’t matter if you are the teacher of young minds, a doctor who heals, the barista with the perfect cappuccino or the housewife who greets everyone with a smile….you want to make a difference. I am a firm believer that we are all small pebbles capable of making ripples of waves in other’s lives….we just might not realize it sometimes. I woke up this morning thinking about this because I wanted to wish The Chopping Block in Chicago a Happy 20th anniversary. (The celebrationRead More →
